CLEAN BOOT PROCEDURE :

) Start the system in Safe mode or Safe mode with networking to check if safe mode is working fine.

) Restart the machine in Normal Mode.

) Launch System Config Utility (MSCONFIG).

) Select the DIAGNOSTICS MODE > Restart and check if everything is working fine.

) Launch MSCONFIG again.

) Select the SELECTIVE MODE STARTUP.

) Uncheck the Load Startup Items option. Keep the System services and Original Boot Configuration selected and checked.

) Goto Services Tab.

) Click on Hide all MS Services.

) Click on Disable ALL.

) Click on OK and Restart the machine. Check if the solution is met.

) Re-launch the MSConfig utility.

) Goto the startups tab and start enabling the startups in groups of 4/5. Keep restarting the machine to check if the solution is met.

) Once you find the startup and the service associated with the startup which is creating the problem, keep it disabled.

Now we need to delete this startup and service permanently from the system.

For this we can either use the Support Dock’s PC Optimizer utility or we can clean it up from the registry. If possible we should try to uninstall the responsible Program if not required by the customer.

To do this from Registry (*after giving the necessary disclaimers) :

) Launch Registry Editor (regedt32).

) Goto :

*remember to keep taking backup of the registry entries or keys that are modified below*

HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ MICROSOFT \ SHARED TOOLS \MSCONFIG \ SERVICES

HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ MICROSOFT \ SHARED TOOLS \MSCONFIG \ STARTUPFOLDER

Delete the necessary Subkey under the startupfolder key

HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ MICROSOFT \ SHARED TOOLS \MSCONFIG \ STARTUPREG

Delete the necessary Subkey under the startupreg key

HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ MICROSOFT \ WINDOWS \ CURRENTVERSION \ RUNONCE

HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ MICROSOFT \ WINDOWS \ CURRENTVERSION \ RUN

Delete the necessary String Value Registry key on the Right hand side pane.

) After making the necessary changes in the registry, restart the machine.

) Launch MSConfig utility to find out if the startups have been remover permanently.

) Re-Select the Normal Startup mode and restart the machine to confirm the issue resolution.

) Confirm with the Customer if the issue has been resolved or not, as per their requirement when they called in.
